Petra Boezerooy
Petra Boezerooy is a research associate at the Center for Higher Education Policy Studies (CHEPS) at the University of Twente (the Netherlands). At the time of writing her reports on virtual universities, Petra was involved in various (mainly comparative) projects concerning the use of ICT and distance education in different countries. She was also involved in evaluating the activities of the Dutch Digital University (under a contract from them), and in organising study trips to the UK, Australia and the USA regarding the use of information and communication in higher education (projects commis-sioned by the SURF Foundation).
Currently Petra continues her work as a research associate at CHEPS, where she started work on her PhD project in 2003. The focus of the PhD is on the different strategic responses that higher education institutions develop with regard to the imple-mentation of ICT in their education functions. Since January 2004, Petra has started on a part-time basis to work for SURF, the higher education and research partnership organisation for network services and ICT. At the ICT and Education Platform (one of the three platforms of SURF) Petra is the policy-research co-ordinator and she is also involved in the development of international activities.
