The University College South (University College Syd, UC South) supports blended learning and distance studies.

UCSouth’s goals are embracing different cultures and professional traditions for mutual inspiration; providing higher education programmes, innovation and research, all highly connected activities.

Its mission is:

  • To educate and train students in an international professional education and study that responds to the region's need for qualified employees in the educational, health professional and graphic arts field and contribute to the development of the professions in which they engaged.
  • Being a regional center of excellence, which in interaction with the public and private sectors at both national and international levels contribute to regional and national development of industries and professions.
  • To develop new education and training in educational, health professional, graphic and technical-commercial area.

The university college's main office is in Haderslev, Denmark. Other locations are Kolding, Aabenraa and Sønderborg.

UCSouth has approximately 3,600 students and 420 members of staff.

As from 1st January 2008 all Danish medium-cycle higher education institutions were re-organized into eight new University Colleges. University College South (former CVU Sønderjylland and Kolding College of Social Education), was one of them.

UC South states that “All (Bachelor Study) programmes consist of theoretical studies and periods of practice. Most of the studies are equally offered as blended learning, e.g. a mix of distance learning and seminars. The language of instruction is Danish.

This HEI also offers net-based learning for three courses, in which students can “mainly” work from home: they’re expected to attend eight two-day seminars a year. This distance learning is supported by Blackboard.
