Nova Southeastern University (NSU) is the largest independent university in Florida, US, with 16 colleges and schools. It supports distance learning via a series of remote centres, and offers an increasing number of classes exclusively online. For example, the Fischler School of Education and Human Services offers 15 degrees (ranging from certificates to doctorates) in over 50 specialisations.

NSU’s main campus is in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, US. “Student Educational Centres” are also available throughout the state, e.g. in Miami, Orlando, Tampa, West Palm Beach (among others); in Las Vegas, Nevada; Nassau, Bahamas; and Jamaica, West Indies. These centres offer computer labs, Internet connectivity, AV tools and videoconferencing facilities to further an “on-campus” atmosphere for remote learners. Some courses are offered on evening and weekends; full-time NSU employees can assist with registration, enrolment and other administrative tasks.

The Nova Southeastern University Web site notes:

The modes of instructional delivery for classes off-campus do not necessarily differ from those used on-campus. Many of the University's distance education classes use the traditional classroom setting. Others use telecommunication technologies exclusively, or in combination with a classroom setting.

Online courses are offered via WebCT (Blackboard), among other tools (e.g. electronic textbooks from Educational Impact).

In 2008 NSU had more than 26,000 students (total) enrolled.

Nova Southeastern University is one of only 10 US universities or colleges subscribed to the OBHE.

Reports

An interesting study of NSU is available at http://chronicle.com/campusviewpoints/nsu/pdfs/nsu_brand_case_study.pdf/ (2004) - though it does not address online course offerings in particular.
