University of Missouri High School
The University of Missouri High School (MU High School) is an online high school located in the US state of Missouri.
The high school is part of the University of Missouri's Mizzou Online, where all modes of online and distance education are coordinated for the University of Missouri schools and colleges.
The online high school diploma programme received accreditation in 1999. In 2009 distance learning courses were delivered asynchronously to 20,801 students from all over Missouri, the U.S., and from 52 countries.
Most US residents under the age of 18 may enroll in the diploma programme, if able to submit written permission from a school official in their district, or written verification that they are in compliance with their state's home schooling education requirements.
As of October 2011, both self-paced (supplementary) and semester (full-time) courses were available. In semester courses students progress through each course with an instructor and other "classmates"; scheduled online live chats and/or discussion forums, and assignments with due dates are required.
The mission of the University of Missouri High School is to provide distance learning courses, through a variety of delivery methods, that will complement traditional high school curricula and provide an accredited online high school diploma program for independent learners of all ages seeking an alternative to traditional high school
