The goal of the Vytautas Magnus University Distance Study Centre is to support effective and consistent development of distance studies at the University in agreement with strategic goals of the system in education in Lithuania, and in the context of the Lithuanian Distance Education Network, (LieDM).
The objectives of the centre are:
- to create and promote e-learning strategies.
- to consult teachers to design and implement distance studies.
- to improve teacher competences to design and implement distance studies.
- to train teachers to meet quality requirements and to evaluate the quality of distance study curriculum.
- to promote social and professional networking among academic community.
- to perform research in distance studies and to promote its applicability on practical level.
The university is member of: LieDM, NDMA, EDEN and EFQUEL.
There are two projects that they are working on:
- Nordlet: The Nordic-Baltic Open Community for Learning, Education, and Training: The main goal of the project is to build a Nordic-Baltic network and Community of Practice set to develop and harness a region-specific perspective on the use of technology in Learning, Education and Training.
- Reviewing and Reviving Existing VET Curriculum: is to ensure the quality of Vocational Education and Training (VET) services by reviewing and reviving existing VET Curriculum on the basis of innovative didactical and technological methodology.
