Czech Technical University in Prague
The Czech Technical University in Prague (České vysoké učení technické v Praze, CTU) supports e-learning. The school was founded in the early 18th century.
The CTU’s main office is in Prague, Czech Republic. One department is located in Kladno, near Prague. CTU lists also its three research institutions Klokner Institute, Masaryk Institute of Advanced Studies and Institute of Physical Education and Sport.
In 2008, more than 24,000 students were enrolled at the seven faculties and three research institutes, covering a total of 14 bachelor programs, 23 master programs and 15 PhD programs. Many of these programs are taught in English.
CTU offers e-learning through:
- CourseWare (study materials in electronic form prepared by the CTU and other universities)
- Learning Gateway
- Moodle as “software to support teaching at CTU via online courses”:
Moodle at CTU: Moodle application currently runs on the server ocw.cvut.cz (OpenCourseWare) at http://ocw.cvut.cz/moodle. This application is intended for current courses at the CTU for each teacher and student of CTU.
In October 2008 the Times newspaper published its yearly QS World University ranking list which, for the first time, included the Czech Technical University in Prague, ranked among the top 500 world universities as 401st to 500th.
CTU made its European University Association (EUA) evaluation report from 2005 public.
