Established in 1991, Central European University (CEU) is an internationally recognized institution of undergraduate and graduate education in the social sciences and the humanities.
 
CEU aims at excellence in the mastery of established knowledge, excellence in the creation of new knowledge, and excellence in developing the policy implications of both. In order to achieve this, the university has built on a combination of American and European, including regional, intellectual and academic traditions; on commitment to social service; and on its own academic and policy achievements in helping to transform the communist inheritance amidst strong regional inequalities.
 
Now with 250 permanent and visiting faculty from over 20 countries, and almost 1000 students drawn from more than 65 countries enrolled in the 2005/2006 academic year, CEU provides its students with access to a diverse range of Bachelor's, Master's and PhD programs from 14 different departments and programs.
