The ''Tamil Nadu Open University'' (TNOU) was established by the government of Tamil Nadu, [[India]]. It offers a variety of diplomas, certificates, undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and is modelled along the lines of the Indira Gandhi National Open University. TNOU uses self-learning materials in print, face-to-face learning through counselling sessions, and continuous assessment of learner performance through assignment-responses/open-book tests and term-end examinations.
