The Wawasan Open University (WOU) is an institution of higher education based in Malaysia that allows adult students to pursue tertiary level qualifications through distance learning. Learning may take place using traditional print materials, over the telephone, by teleconferencing, by podcasting, or by other forms of online communication. Students may attend weekend tutorial sessions and meet instructors at five regional centres in key cities in the country.

WOU is the only private, not-for profit open learning institute in Malaysia. The university is supported by the Wawasan Education Foundation (WEF), a charitable body.

The university works with global organisations including the Commonwealth of Learning, the education arm of the Commonwealth of Nations, and the Commonwealth Educational Media Centre of Asia (CEMCA) to develop learner-centred programmes tailored for open learning.

The Wawasan Open University web site is at http://www.wou.edu.my/default.aspx
