Jharkhand is a state in eastern India, created out of southern Bihar in 2000. It borders Bihar to the north, West Bengal to the east, Orissa to the south, and Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh to the west.
The population of Jharkhand is 32.9 million according to the 2011 census. The state capital is Ranchi and its largest city is Jamshedpur.
