The Silver State Charter Schools (SSHS) form a free online charter school serving Douglas, Washoe, Churchill, and Storey counties, located in the US state of Nevada. Founded in 2004, it serves students from grades 7-12 (and technically is split into the Silver State Middle School and Silver State High School).
The school had 459 students in the 2009-2010 year.
There is a blended component to the SSHS programme, as students attend classes in person once per week to meet with their teachers, and then do class work online. Full-time students attend synchronous courses in a cohort, and graduate together.
Learning is provided via eCollege; students are encouraged to phone or contact their teachers using instant messaging during the day and into the early evening whenever they need help.
The Silver State Charter Schools web site is at http://www.sshs.org/
More Details
The Silver State Charter Schools curriculum is hosted by eCollege. The Florida Virtual School and Aventa curriculum are used as well.
