West Virginia is a state in the Appalachian and south-eastern regions of the United States. It borders Virginia to the southeast, Kentucky to the southwest, Ohio to the northwest, Pennsylvania to the northeast and Maryland to the east.
West Virginia has a population of 1.8 million as of 2010. The state capital and largest city is Charleston. West Virginia is known as the Mountain state.
