The University of Klagenfurt (Klagenfurt University, Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt, or Alps-Adriatic University of Klagenfurt, AAU) was founded in 1970 in Klagenfurt, Austria as a College of Educational Studies (Hochschule für Bildungswissenschaften). A public institution, it hosts about 8,000 students and 700 staff. A strong commitment to e-learning is evidenced by an eLearning support network; an eLearning research network; and use of OpenCourseWare and ePortfolios.
