Highland Theological College

Highland Theological College (Gaelic: Colaiste Diadhaireachd na Gaidhealtach) exists to provide opportunities for men and women to study the Christian faith, on a full-time, part-time or open learning basis, from an evangelical and Reformed perspective, in the context of a worshipping community.

It is located in Dingwall, Scotland.

In 2006 it was approved by the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland as a college for the training of Church of Scotland ministers. Theologically, it is within the evangelical and Reformed Christian tradition.

It is part of the University of the Highlands and Islands.

Study tools, including online learning

Students will study in various ways, using different technologies. HTC have developed these learning technologies to ensure maximum flexibility in the courses to allow students to fit their studies around their personal and professional commitments.

The blend of technologies used on each course will depend on the individual modules students have chosen, but it is likely that students will use some or all of the following learning resources:

• Video conference (VC) - using cameras and microphones, a VC can connect staff and students at two or more UHI campuses, or any other site worldwide, with the required technology.
• Audio conference (AC) - using traditional phone systems or web-based phone technology, an audio conference enables three or more people to share a conversation or discussion.
• Virtual learning environment (VLE) - a web-based system that enables you to access learning materials, guidance and support, and also access and submit assessments, plus communicate with staff and other students through discussion boards and live chat - ther UHI VLE is Blackboard
• Online - Using the VLE, web and other technologies you may study when and where it suits you. You will usually be part of a group studying in the same way and will be able to interact with other students.

Some online courses do not require any physical attendance at a college, with all study and support from tutors available online. Students may, however, be required to attend a face-to-face induction at their enrolling college at the start of each course.

Students can also use myUHI to access their files, applications and other internet services for study from their PC at home or at work. They don't need to be in college.

There are certain courses and modules that are taught, in full or part, by traditional face-to-face teaching in the classrooms at base in Dingwall.
