Minnesota is a state in the mid-west of the United States. It borders Manitoba and Ontario in Canada to the north, shares a Lake Superior water border with Michigan and Wisconsin to the north-east, Iowa to the south, and North Dakota and South Dakota to the west.

The 2010 census records a population of 5.3 million. The state capital is Saint Paul, and the largest city is Minneapolis. Minnesota is known as the North Star State.
