The Nova Scotia Virtual School (NSVS) is the province-wide online learning programme operated by the Government of Nova Scotia. There are other district based and private online and virtual schools in the province.

Its website is http://nsvs.ednet.ns.ca/m19/

"The Nova Scotia Virtual School is a common provincial online learning platform created as a joint project between provincial school boards and the Department of Education in Nova Scotia. It provides for the delivery of public school and correspondence courses (Distributed Learning), online extensions of school-based classes (Blended Learning), and supports professional development and online meetings for teachers and other staff of school boards and the Department of Education (Professional Learning)."

Further information

iNACOL 2010 noted:

"There is also a correspondence study programme (CSP) that began in 1920 and continues to this day—although the Department of Education is currently in the process of transitioning these courses to an online delivery format. At present there are approximately 1800 students and 2200 course enrolments in CSP. Approximately half the students enroled in CSP courses are also attending a public school; the other half are adult students or live outside of the province."
