IICD IICD is a non-profit foundation that specialises in information and communication technologies (ICT) as a tool for development. Its home page states: At IICD, people are at the heart of what we do.

We believe people need access to information to improve their lives. Particularly in developing countries. Farmers earn more from their produce if they know the current market price. Patients receive better treatment if health workers know their medical history. Students learn more with up-to-date learning materials in their own language. To help people in Africa and Latin America access the information that can transform their lives, we use ICT: Information and Communication Technology. We help local partners from the non-profit, public and private sectors use ICT to meet their development goals in economic development, education and health. Technology is what we use: it’s not our main objective. The solutions we help implement must be practical and sustainable. That’s why IICD uses radio and TV as well as modern media like internet and mobile phones to bring people the information they need.

And together we do make a difference. We currently reach nearly 6 million people in nine different countries through our programmes.

Our Mission: to help 10 million people with low incomes in Africa and Latin America create opportunities to shape their future and their society through access to and use of information and communications technology. IICD is currently active in Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Kenya, Ghana, Malawi,Mali, Peru, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.
