The Pakistan Virtual University (the Virtual University of Pakistan, VU) was established by the government of Pakistan as a public-sector, not-for-profit institution. Its mission is to provide education for the country's citizens, both in residence and overseas. Founded in 2002, the university uses free-to-air satellite television broadcasts and the internet for course delivery. There are over 100 campuses/learning centres across Pakistan and in several locations overseas.
