A citizen of Tanzania, Uswege M. Minga graduated from Nairobi University, Kenya with a BVM degree, the University of Illinois (USA) with a MSc and earned his PhD at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. He was first a lecturer and then Professor at Sokoine University of Agriculture teaching Microbiology 1978 - 2002 where he became Head of Department and Associate Dean. Between 2002 – 2007 he was Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the Open University of Tanzania and has been a member of the academic staff there from 2002 to date.
Currently Professor Uswege is also the Director of the African Council for Distance Education (ACDE) Technical Committee on Collaboration for Africa.
