It operates seven campuses and six regional centres across Western Australia, with a main campus six kilometres south of Perth, Australia. In 1999, Curtin established a campus in Sarawak, Malaysia.

Curtin's best-known division is the Curtin Business School (CBS).

Curtin is also a partner in the African Virtual University.

In December 1986 the Western Australian Institute of Technology (WAIT) was formally renamed Curtin University of Technology, though the school traces it roots to 1900 with the founding of Perth Technical School.
