North Africa comprises the seven countries:
We also include the autonomous part of Western Sahara called Sahrawi.

Not included are:
- The Spanish exclaves of Ceuta and Mellila on the Mediterranean coast but surrounded by Morocco
- The Spanish Canary Islands and Portuguese Madeira Islands in the North Atlantic Ocean northwest of the African mainland
- Mauritania
- Azores
