William Beamont Community High School (United Kingdom) is one of many schools in the borough who are transforming the way they learn.

As part of the Transforming Learning in Warrington initiative, the school is using lots of innovative technology to enhance and enrich education.

At the moment pupils are getting to grips with green-screen technology as part of the launch of a brand new GCSE in Digital Communications.

Maggie Williams, headteacher at William Beamont, said: “Traditional subjects like maths and English are still at the core of what we teach, however we owe it to our students to look to the future and consider what the job market will demand of them when they leave school.

“I believe new qualifications such as this one will give young people in Warrington a real advantage.”

William Beamont also has close links with several primary schools who have followed their lead into the digital age, including Bewsey Lodge Primary School, who are enhancing learning using Fizzbooks and Web 2.0 technologies.

To showcase the innovative work of the borough’s schools, William Beamont will be hosting an event on 23 June 2011 for teachers and governors.
