Open School BC is a part of the Knowledge Management Division within the British Columbia Ministry of Education. Operating on a cost recovery basis, Open School BC designs, develops and distributes educational resources and services to K–12 schools (and public sector clients).

Its website is http://www.openschool.bc.ca/

Further information

Open School BC has evolved from long-established correspondence and distance learning functions within the Ministry dating back to 1919.

Open School BC offers online resources and services to all British Columbia K-12 schools, school districts, teachers, students and their parents. Online courses are offered via WebCT and Moodle. In 2011 Open School BC began its implementation of a new Learning Management System (Blackboard Learn 9.1) with a suite of integrated tools such as Elluminate, collaboration tools and mobile apps.

Resources and services range from informational websites and booklets for the general public to accredited courses addressing specific curriculum and from print publications to interactive educational tools and video.
