SSIS online (SISS) is a post-graduate school for secondary teachers, founded by the Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR) in 1998 in Italy. It operates at regional level and is supported by a consortium of universities of Veneto region (Venice, Padova and Verona). They developed a research project called SSIS online whose aim is to deliver pre-service courses using ICT and distance education.

The main objective of SSIS online is to enhance good educational practices through the implementation of online interactive courses and the starting up of communities of practice for teachers.

Until 2005 they have delivered more than 300 online courses (for 15,000 students and 400 tutors online). The online courses of the SSIS are organised in mixed modality (blended). They have chosen this modality of teaching because they consider important face to face encounters to teach.

Every online course has a personal virtual space reserved in the site of the school, where SSIS students can find some sections such as: Calendar, modules, didactic activities, virtual class and forum discussion.
