The Asia-Pacific Quality Network (APQN) has been developed with the purpose of serving the needs of quality assurance agencies in higher education in a region that contains over half the world’s population.
The region is defined as
- all Pacific island nations and territories, New Zealand, Australia, Papua New Guinea; all island and mainland nations and territories of Asia, including Russia, Afghanistan, the other central Asian 'stans and Iran, but excluding the Gulf states (which are covered by another network)
Its mission is:
- To enhance the quality of higher education in Asia and the Pacific region through strengthening the work of quality assurance agencies and extending the cooperation between them
Since 2008, APQN has participated in the Global Initiative on Quality Assurance Capacity (GIQAC).
