The Habib University Foundation is a not for profit organization, established by the House of Habib, which supports educational initiatives, research and innovation. Registered under Section 42 of the Companies Ordinance, 1984, it commenced its work in Karachi in October 2007.

The Foundation believes that appropriate nurturing of human potential is essential for the creation of a socially and morally responsible society, which is well-positioned to face challenges of the 21st century. Therefore, the Foundation develops and supports a diverse portfolio of programmes which aim at establishing inspiring and exciting learning spaces to foster a healthy society.

The Foundation's work is organized under the following themes:

  1. Promote higher education and learning for contributing to build a knowledge-based society
  2. Advance research and awareness for improving learning and living
  3. Stimulate youth and communities for a healthy and productive life
  4. Promote Quality Enhancement and Institutional Development (QuAID) Support for educational initiatives


Habib University Foundation's patron is the House of Habib, a leading financial and industrial conglomerate in Pakistan. It is part of the Habib family of Pakistan known for its generous philanthropy and leading business endeavors.

The Education and Literacy Department, Government of Sindh, has initiated a programme aimed to train teachers all over the province, in collaboration with the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Youth Development Programme (BBSYDP).

The Foundation works in partnership with a number of providers: Notre Dame Institute of Education, Fatimiyah Education Network, School of Leadership, Educational Resource Development Centre, Teacher Development Centre, AK-EB, DIHE, the British Council, and I Earn.
