The University Louis Pasteur (ULP, Strasbourg 1) merged at January 1, 2009 with the two other local universities Marc Bloch (UMB, Strasbourg 2) and Robert Schumann (URS, Strasbourg 3) to form Strasbourg University.

Located on four major campuses in the Regional Municipality of Strasbourg, ULP has more than 18,500 students, 1,400 teacher-cum-researchers, 1,700 engineers, technicians, workers and administrative staff distributed within 18 components (educational and research units, schools, engineering schools and institutes), 14 research federations consisting of 74 research units (of which 44 are related to CNRS, 10 related to INSERM, and one related to INRA), 30 general services consisting of 13 central services and 17 common university and inter-university services.
Strasbourg University aims for the highest quality in research with a cross-disciplinary outlook, shared by specialists inspired by a spirit of tolerance and open-mindedness.


ULP is a member of the League of European Research Universities (LERU). Its top-level research places it among the foremost French and European universities.
