''Niall Sclater'' is Director of Learning Innovation at the UK [[Open University]] since August 2008 after previously being Director of the VLE Programme since October 2005.


Before coming to the [[UKOU]], he was Head of e-Learning and Assistant Director of Learning Services at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. He had been involved in the research, development and implementation of learning technology at Glasgow and Strathclyde Universities since 1990. He co-founded and managed the [[Clyde Virtual University]] and the Scottish Computer Assisted Assessment Network and founded the Technologies for Online Interoperable Assessment project, which built an e-assessment system now in use at universities and colleges throughout the UK.
