The Bulgarian Virtual University (BVU) was launched in 2004 as a a nation-wide portal to Bulgarian higher education institutions and their online learning environments. It is one of several initiatives designed to promote the use of e-learning and technology in general across Bulgaria. Little information about BVU is available in English, and problems with its web site do cast doubt as to its present-day operations.
