The Georgia Virtual Technical College (Georgia Virtual Tech, GVTC) is an electronic clearinghouse for all Web-based instruction offered through the Georgia Technical College System (GTCS) of 33 technical colleges. It offers students a centralised repository of programmes and courses.

(The Georgia Technical College System, or GTCS, is charged with providing the residents and corporations of Georgia, US, with a technologically advanced system of technical education, in order to boost the economic development of the state.)

The Georgia Virtual Technical College is based in Covington, Georgia, US. Established in 1998, the GVTC initiative was designed specifically to improve access for working adults seeking the opportunity to pursue degrees and certifications. Benefits to the state of Georgia, US, include a decreased strain on existing college facilities and improved access to education from rural areas.

In its first quarter the college enrolled 132 students in 17 courses; by 2005, over 37,000 students were enrolled in almost 6,000 courses (these came from 28 US states and 22 foreign countries).

Georgia Virtual Tech has an open enrollment policy, and eligibility and academic requirements for courses and degree programmes may vary. Courses include diplomas, job-oriented technical certificates and associate’s degrees. GVTC offers course in both online and hybrid modes. In August 2008, Georgia Virtual Technical College announced that it had selected the ANGEL Learning Management Suite (LMS) for all future online course delivery.
