The Israeli Virtual High School' was launched in September 2012, by the Center for Educational Technology together with the Israeli Ministry of Education and the Trump Foundation.
The goal was to increase the number of students who study advanced-level mathematics and physics by addressing a two-tiered problem in Israel’s periphery:
- the shortage of qualified teachers who can teach advanced-level mathematics or physics
- the low numbers of students who opt for these studies — too low to justify funding dedicated classes for them at their home schools.
It was still operational in 2017 but its current status is unclear.
