Since autumn 2016, the Federal Ministry of Education has been working on the topic of open educational resources. On January 23, 2017, concrete projects were presented to the public (BMB, 2017a); in addition, the press kit on the Federal Ministry of Education's digitization strategy also presented a summary of the digitization activities to date (BMB, 2017b). Specifically, the press release in "Pillar 4: Digital Learning Tools" names OER as follows:
"In order to be able to teach digital content, educators need easy and free access to teaching and learning materials. Through OER (Open Educational Resources), content is made available and the active use of digital media is stimulated".
The digitization strategy or press release is no longer available on the Ministry's website.
