Policies Survey notes:
- The respondent to Policies Survey from Grenada noted in relation to Grenada's motivations for involvement in the OER movement that "This will help with resource and information sharing among participating countries. As part of the sub-region of the OECS and the Caribbean region, such information sharing will further strengthen and add to ongoing integration initiatives. At the same time, involvement in the use of OER and the OER movement can accrue benefits to the education sector and the population as a whole, with end-users (teachers, students, life-long learners and even educational planners) gaining access to open resources."
Overview
Grenada is an island country and sovereign state consisting of the island of Grenada and six smaller islands at the southern end of the Grenadines in the southeastern Caribbean Sea. Grenada is located northwest of Trinidad and Tobago, northeast of Venezuela, and southwest of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. It has an estimated population of 110,000, with a size of 344 km². Its capital is St George's. The national bird of Grenada is the critically endangered Grenada Dove. Grenada is divided into six parishes: Saint Andrew, Saint David, Saint George, Saint John, Saint Mark and Saint Patrick. Carriacou and Petite Martinique, two of the Grenadines, have the status of dependency of Grenada. The official language, English, is used in the government, but Grenadian Creole is considered the lingua franca of the island. French Patois (Antillean Creole) is still spoken by about 10%–20% the population.
