North Africa comprises the seven countries of Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Sudan, Tunisia and Western Sahara. We also include the autonomous part of Western Sahara called Sahrawi.

Not included are:

  1. The Spanish exclaves of Ceuta and Mellila on the Mediterranean coast but surrounded by Morocco
  2. The Spanish Canary Islands and Portuguese Madeira Islands in the North Atlantic Ocean northwest of the African mainland
  3. Mauritania
  4. Azores
