Maine is a state in the New England region of north-eastern United States. It borders the Canadian provinces of Quebec to the northwest and New Brunswick to the northeast, the Atlantic Ocean to the east and south, and New Hampshire to the west.
The population of Maine is 1.3 million as of 2010. The state capital is Augusta and its largest city is Portland. Maine is known as the Pine Tree State.
