Alabama is a state in the south-east of the United States. It borders Tennessee to the north, Georgia to the east, Florida and the Gulf of Mexico to the south, and Mississippi to the west.

The 2010 census records a population of 4.7 million. The state capital is Montgomery, and the largest city is Birmingham.

Virtual schools in Alabama

As of 2008, “…beginning with the ninth grade class of 2009-10 (graduating class of 2012-13), students shall be required to complete one online/technology enhanced course or experience in either a core course (mathematics, science, social studies, or English) or an elective with waivers being possible for students with a justifiable reason(s)”, according to the the Alabama State Board of Education.
