Founded in 2004, it serves students from grades 7-12 (and technically is split into the Silver State Middle School and Silver State High School).


There is a blended component to the SSHS programme, as students attend classes in person once per week to meet with their teachers, and then do class work online.
The school had 459 students in the 2009-2010 year.


Learning is provided via eCollege; students are encouraged to phone or contact their teachers using instant messaging during the day and into the early evening whenever they need help

The Silver State Charter Schools (SSHS) form a free online charter school serving Douglas, Washoe, Churchill, and Storey counties, located in the US state of Nevada.
