Michigan is a state in the Great Lakes Region of the United States. Consiting of two peninsulas, it borders the Canada province of Ontario to the north and east, Indiana and Ohio to the south, Illinois to the south-west, Wisconsin to the west, and Minnesota to the north-west.
The 2010 census records a population of 9.8 million. The state capital is Lansing and the largest city is Detroit. Michigan is known as The Great Lakes State.
