The Seminars Promoting Virtual Support for Mobile Students (Move-IT) project was selected in 2009, and it was funded from 1 November 2009 until 31 December 2010 by the European Commission under the Lifelong Learning Programme, Erasmus - Accompanying Measures.

Summary

The growing success of Erasmus and other exchange programmes has revealed a new need for students to get more and better guidance and support. Blended mobility, enabled by the use of educational technologies, and e-coaching methodologies, therefore are becoming increasingly popular as a complement to the traditional mobility programmes in order to support the mobile student of tomorrow in an efficient and effective way. The former project VM-BASE revealed many opportunities to support exchange students from a distance but it is only when all stakeholders in student mobility understand the benefits of organising virtual support for physical mobility programmes that they really will be integrated in mainstream education and become sustainable in the long term.

Move-IT will bring together projects and potential users, trigger the discussion and keep blended and virtual mobility high on the agenda of the different European stakeholders. The project aims to promote and increase the visibility of (former) projects (such as EPICS, E-move, MoreVM, SUMIT, BEING MOBILE, Europe Now, Mobi-Blog, ESMOS, Let's Go, ...) and innovative initiatives on blended and virtual mobility and e-coaching through the website (with a repository of good practices) and through organising events: two webinars, two seminars and a final Forum.
