Clipperton Island (French: Île de Clipperton or Île de la Passion) (Spanish: Isla de la Pasión) is a nine-square-kilometre (approx. 3.5 square mile) coral atoll in the Eastern Pacific Ocean, southwest of Mexico and west of Central America, at 10°18′N 109°13′W / 10.3°N 109.217°W / 10.3; -109.217 (Clipperton Island)Coordinates: 10°18′N 109°13′W / 10.3°N 109.217°W / 10.3; -109.217 (Clipperton Island).
It has no permanent inhabitants.
The island is an overseas possession of France under the direct authority of the French government, administered by the Minister of Overseas France. Despite the vast distance separating them it was administered from French Polynesia until 2007.
While in theory Clipperton Island would qualify to be a country in our sense as much as any other overseas territory of France, in reality its relevance to e-learning is nil - thus we do not include it in our list.
