The European Virtual Campus for Biomedical Engineering (EVICAB) was selected under the Erasmus Virtual Campuses programme in 2005 (and funded from 1.1.2006 till 31.12.2007). It has sought to improve the overall quality of biomedical engineering through virtual partnerships, working from the premise that, as a multidiscpilinary science, no one university can produce high-quality, up-to-date educational material in all subfields.

Today EVICAB offers high-quality, free Biomedical Engineering Curriculum on the Internet via a 'Virtual University Platform.' Each partner university has their own Biomedical Engineering programme.
