The Open University for Adults (Universidad Abierta Para Adultos) supports distance learning, primarily via internet and/or CD. It initially offered students a residential component, but in 2001 it transitioned to offering distance-mode education only.
The Open University for Adults was founded in 1991. Today it has more than 7500 students across all of the Dominican Republic.
Its goal is to address the education needs of citizens across the country and the globe. Courses are delivered with semesters and strict deadlines (i.e. are not self paced).
