Thierry Karsenti, M.A., M.Ed., Ph.D. is Director of the Centre de recherche interuniversitaire sur la formation et la profession enseignante (CRIFPE) (Interuniversity research centre on education and the teaching profession).  
Thierry Karsenti, M.A., M.Ed., Ph.D., holds the Canada Research Chair on information and communication technologies (ICTs) in education. He is also a professor at the [[University of Montreal]], in the field of information and communication technologies and their integration in teacher training and education.


Besides holding the Canada Research Chair in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Education, Professor Karsenti is also a Full Professor at the University of Montreal. His field is the Integration of Information and Communication Technology into Teacher Training. In October 2005, CRIFPE received the CEA Whitworth Award for Education Research from the Canadian Education Association.
His technopedagogical achievements and innovations have been recognized at both the provincial and national levels. He was awarded first place in the Prix du ministre de l'Éducation contest (1998-1999 and 1999-2000), and along with a team from Université du Québec, received the Prix Hommage 2001 from the Quebec government. As well, he was awarded the Prix d'Excellence en Conception Pédagogique by the Canadian Association of Distance Education (2000) and the Prix PEDAGOGICA-RESCOL for pedagogical innovation in the integration of ICTs (2000). In October 2000, he won the Prix quinquennal d'Excellence en enseignement. He has also been recognized for his contributions, through research activities, to the quality of pedagogy.


His technopedagogical accomplishments and innovations in teacher training have been recognized in Quebec and Canada. He has won the Prix du ministre de l’Éducation and the Prix Hommage awarded by the Government of Quebec, the Prix d’Excellence en Conception Pédagogique Award of Excellence from the Canadian Association of Distance Education, and the Prix PEDAGOGICA-RESCOL for pedagogical innovation in the integration of ICT. In addition, while he was teaching at the University of Quebec, he received the Prix quinquennal d’Excellence en enseignement. He has also earned recognition for his contributions to research and the quality of his university teaching.  
His research interests center upon the pedagogical integration of new technologies, open and distance learning, teaching practices and motivation.


His research interests lie in the areas of integration of new technologies into education in Africa, educational practices for teachers, open and distance learning, and motivation techniques.
 
He is also a member of the Re.ViCa [[Advisory Committee| International Advisory Committee (IAC)]]
