Laurentian University (Université Laurentienne, LU) is the largest bilingual provider of distance education in Canada. Courses may use various media.
Founded in 1960, Laurentian is a mid-sized bilingual university in Greater Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. LU's focus is primarily on undergraduate programming, though the university also features a medical school opened in 2005 (the Northern Ontario School of Medicine, in consortium with Lakehead University).
The university has strong ties with the mining industry, and is one of the few schools in Canada offering mining engineering courses.
