Background
Mediterranean Virtual University (MVU) represents the establishment of a virtual university in the Mediterranean area.
- Abbreviated as MVU
- 2-year EU-project under the EUMedis programme
- Duration from July 2004 until August 2006
- 9 partners from around the Mediterranean – plus Denmark and Scotland:
- University of Strathclyde, Scotland
- Aalborg University, Denmark
- University of Cyprus, Cyprus
- Ain Shams University, Egypt
- Jordan University of Science and Technology (Jordan)
- University of Malta, Malta
- Islamic University of Gaza, Palestine
- Birzeit University, Palestine
- Welfare Association, Palestine
- Sabanci University, Turkey
- American University of Beirut, Lebanon
Aim
- First of all develop and deliver high quality, relevant online modules which meet the requirements of industry and individuals.
- Second main aim is to build a lasting international educational network where academic and technical expertise in e-learning can be exchanged between partners in Europe and the Mediterranean region

To build a sustainable network of top institutions who collaboratively develop and deliver high quality online university courses
