The ASEAN Virtual University was established by the ASEAN University Network (AUN) in 1997-1998, designed to help ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asia Nations) member countries transfer a sense of regional awareness and identity to students. A single shared curriculum was developed to provide information about ASEAN societies, economies and politics; its syllabus is available on the ASEAN Virtual University site.
