The ''Austrian Educational Initiative for an Open University'' is an initiative to build and operate the first Austrian Open University (as a private university).

Furthermore, the aim is to promote the education and training in business, society, administration and politics in general and distance education research, technology and pedagogy in particular as well as to promote the interests of its members and especially through the use of new media.

The organisers are working in close cooperation with research, educational and continuing-education institutions.
