In English: The University of Cantabria (UC) is a public university located in Santander, Torrelavega and Comillas in Cantabria, Spain. It was founded in 1972 and is organized in 15 schools and colleges. It was selected as Campus of International Excellence by the Government of Spain in 2009. UC is part, as a founding member, of the Group 9 of Spanish Universities (G9), created in 1997 with the aim of promoting collaboration between academic institutions. In Spanish: La Universidad de Cantabria es la unica Universidad publica de la Comunidad Autonoma de Cantabria, imparte 37 titulaciones oficiales de grado con 10763 alumnos matriculados y 25 programas de doctorado con 800 alumnos matriculados, ademas de 45 programas de estudios propios con 774 alumnos. Forma parte del Grupo 9 de universidades destinado a establecer estrategias conjuntas en el ambito de la enseanza superior, uno de cuyos programas es el Campus Virtual Compartido que ofrece 86 asignaturas (12 de ellas las Universidad de Cantabria) y 4744 alumnos matriculados. Esta inmersa en la experimentacion del Espacio Europeo de Educacion Superior, para lo cual ha puesto en marcha 4 ediciones de Planes Piloto de cursos completos en el que participan 18 titulaciones.
