	The SFC is a Non-Departmental Public Body of the Scottish Government within the [[United Kingdom]] and was established formally on 3 October 2005 under the terms of the Further and Higher Education (Scotland) Act 2005. The Council replaced the former ''Scottish Further Education Funding Council'' ([[SFEFC]]) and the ''Scottish Higher Education Funding Council'' ([[SHEFC]]) and brought together funding and support for Scotland’s colleges and universities under one body.
