<p><b>New page</b></p><div>A ''Private nonprofit provider'' is an institution that provides e-learning which is neither a public institution nor a commercial enterprise ([[private provider]]) but is set up in a nonprofit form, such as a foundation, charity, religious body etc.<br />

It may still, as is common in the [[USA]] and some other countries (but not the [[UK]]) receive public funds.<br />
<br />
It is often hard to determine from the documentation whether or not a private institution is a commercial enterprise or a private nonprofit provider.<br />
<br />
In addition, in some countries, such as [[UK]] and [[Finland]], some universities are set up as private foundations - in the UK the legal form is as a Company Limited by Guarantee - yet are as eligible as other universities to receive state funding.
